Sweet Tooth

On the eve of this Canadian Thanksgiving, I know I am not the only one sitting back and thinking "I ate way too much, I feel like crap!'

Top of Mazinaw Rock, overlooking Mazniaw Lake (the deepest
lake in Ontario) and Bon Echo Provincial Park.
Aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents spent the weekend at the my parents house and boy did we eat! We haven't seen each other for a few months as they live in Hamilton, ON. We ate lasagna, and chicken, and turkey with all the fixings. Of course you can't forget all the munchies and cheesecake! I had a great time visiting with my family, which also included a trip to Bon Echo Provincial Park. I won't be seeing them again until Christmas, and I ate like I wouldn't eat again until then as well.

I woke up this morning feeling bloated, and tired along with a few new pimples. I thought you were supposed to stop getting pimples when you became an adult? Not this girl! Lately I've felt that I consume way too much sugar, I need to stop baking! So, starting tomorrow I am cutting out all refined sugar from my diet. If I feel like I need something sweet, I will have a little bit of maple syrup (which my family made earlier this year). This means no more sugar in coffee, no more snacking on cookies during break at work, no more chocolate peanut butter ice cream. Lord, help me!

The main reasons in cutting sugar out of my diet is to feel better over all. I think I will have more energy, my skin will be clearer, and I wouldn't mind to drop a few pounds either. I think my husband and son will benefit from this as well. Although, we strictly limit the amount of sugar DS gets. I think the first week will be the hardest, but I plan on sticking to it and posting updates on here. Wish me luck, because I will clearly need it!

Have you ever given something up for a long period of time? Any tips when I want to cave?

What We've Been Up to...

Well it certainly has been a while, close to a year in fact. Winter, Spring and Summer have all come and gone and Autumn has arrived. We are still a little family of 4 - Hubby, H, and Harley our furry baby. We hope to add another baby in the very near future. Here is a little taste of what we have been up to;

In August, Mike and I travelled to Las Vegas for vmWorld. Mike is into vmWare, and it has something to do with virtualization and technology - I don't quite know. I know Mike was in his element here, as it is his passion. We went for 5 days and for 4 of those days I didn't see my husband from 6am to 7pm (sometimes later.) We attended Tweetups, and different parties throughout the time we were there. I was lucky enough to score a pass to the vmWorld party where The Killers were playing. I enjoyed my time in the evenings with Mike, drinking free wine, and meeting some wonderful people. Now, you may think I am crazy when I say this, but I did not like Las Vegas one bit. We aren't the gambling/drinking our faces off type. I think the stay was too long, especially when you are by yourself 80% of the time. I don't think I would visit Vegas again, this trip was almost free however, so I shouldn't complain.

Looking for chipmunks
Fun at the Madoc Fair

Not quite sure of the sheep, he thought they were too loud and was scared of them "baaaaing"

Not the greatest pic of me in front of the waterfalls at Wynn, where we stayed in Vegas.

We are still busy working away on the house. We plan on re-tiling our fireplace in the next few weeks. Good bye old, dark brick. Hello beautiful slate tiles. I will be sure to post pics of the before and after.
